Why the White Desert

Open horizons and room to experience totality in comfort

Egypt’s Western Desert offers a vast open landscape with broad horizons and minimal urban obstruction. August is normally dry in this arid region, although weather can never be guaranteed. The final eclipse site will be confirmed closer to the event after final planning, accessibility, safety requirements and operational permissions are reviewed.

Before you book

Questions travelers usually ask

Important details are explained here before checkout. If you still need help, speak directly with our local team on WhatsApp.

Is the viewing location inside the path of totality?

Yes. The eclipse camp and open-sky viewing area will be inside the path of totality, in the zone between the White Desert and the Black Desert. The exact operational point and coordinates will be shared later with confirmed guests after final terrain, access, safety, horizon and viewing-condition checks. These checks are designed to choose the best practical terrain, horizon and viewing conditions. The selected point will be astronomically verified to provide at least 6 minutes of totality.

Why are the exact viewing coordinates not published yet?

The exact operational point and coordinates will be shared later with confirmed guests after final terrain, access, safety, horizon and viewing-condition checks. These checks are designed to choose the best practical terrain, horizon and viewing conditions. The selected point will be astronomically verified to provide at least 6 minutes of totality.

Is clear weather guaranteed?

No responsible operator can guarantee weather this far in advance. August is normally dry in Egypt’s Western Desert and the planned area offers broad open horizons, but weather conditions will continue to be monitored as the event approaches.

Is there air conditioning at the eclipse viewing area?

Yes. The eclipse camp itself will be fully air-conditioned, including its main tented guest areas. It will also use a direct sky-view layout so guests can watch the eclipse while remaining within the same camp environment. Wi-Fi, electricity, charging points and guest toilets will be available at the camp, which is limited to a maximum of 40 guests.

Where do we sleep on each night?

Night one is spent at the fully air-conditioned eclipse camp close to the planned eclipse viewing position. After the eclipse, Agabat Valley and the White Desert sunset on day two, guests return to Bahariya Oasis for a comfortable hotel night.

Will photographers have time to prepare their equipment?

Yes. The programme is specifically designed to give guests dedicated time before the eclipse to prepare cameras, tripods and other photography equipment. Assistance with access and equipment logistics is included.

What is the price for children?

Children aged 0–6 travel free of charge and pay no deposit. Children aged 7–15 pay 50% of the adult package price, which is USD 1,400 for this package, and pay a USD 250 deposit. Travelers aged 16 and over pay the adult package price.

How do I reserve and how much is the deposit?

The booking deposit is USD 500 for each adult and USD 250 for each child aged 7–15. Children aged 0–6 travel free and do not pay a deposit. Every paid deposit is credited toward the traveler’s final package price.

Are solar eclipse glasses included?

Certified eclipse glasses are not included unless specifically stated in your booking. Proper solar protection must be used during all partial phases of the eclipse.

Can vegetarian meals or dietary requests be arranged?

Yes. Please tell us about dietary needs when you book so our local team can prepare suitable meal options in advance.
